first off, i want to congratulate myself on starting to coupon ***pat on the back***
i went to walgreens and bought the new colgate optic white that i've been wanting to try out for $3.99, and received $2 rewards, which i then used on my next transaction (walgreens lets you do up to 6 different transactions in one shopping) of 2 bags of Mars Mix candies (regular 2 for $4, but there was a coupon in the walgreens booklet at the register which knocked it down to 2 bags for $3) and i found 2 pack of Bounty paper towels for $1.50 bringing my total to $4.50 - $2 rewards = $2.50!
so for $6.50:
- colgate optic white - reg. $3.99
- 2 bags of Mars Mix candies - reg. $2.29 each = $4.58
- 2 pack of Bounty paper towels - reg. $2.49
regular price total $11.06 - $6.50 paid = $4.56 difference, about 41% savings. i know it's not the best deal, but i think it's a good start.

wow, it has been a while since i posted. so much has come and gone, and summer feels the same way. i have to admit though, i am done with the heat and ready for the coolness that fall brings.
i am gradually settling into our new place, which took us what seems like forever to find and i was starting to doubt if we will ever find a place to call home...it's smaller than our old place, but it's sufficient and have what we need.
now onto the birthday party...i made some party favors for one special little boy celebrating his third birthday this weekend.

Pot Holder Tutorial

Materials:
- 7.5" x 7.5" main fabric
- 7.5" x 7.5" back fabric
- 7.5" x 7.5" Insul-Bright
- 7.25" x 7.25" cotton batting or fleece
- 36" bias tape, or if you are making your own, 36" long x 1" fabric and 1/2" bias maker

Instructions:
1. Cut out the squares of the front, back, Insul-Bright, and cotton batting/fleece (I was a little excited about this tute and took the shot without the batting).

2. Pin all the pieces together in this order:

- front fabric

- Insul-Bright

- cotton batting/fleece

- back fabric

3. If you are making your own bias tape, use your 1/2" bias tape maker and iron the fabric as it goes through the bias maker. Then fold the bias tape in half the long way down and iron it again.

4. Cut 4.5" of the bias tape to use for the handle. For the longer bias tape, fold both ends of the bias tape 1/2" down and fold it back in half.

5. Pin the bias tape along the edges of the pot holder.

6. Fold the bias tape handle in half the long way and sew it. Put one end of the handle on top of the other and center it in the back of the pot holder, between the bias tape and the back fabric.

7. Viola, you're done and you have a nice set of pot holders!

Yudu I Do

So, I gave in and purchased a Yudu after seeing an infomercial last year for it. After researching and watching the tutorial video a few times, I finally set forth and created my shirt:

The most difficult part for me was not knowing if I wetted the screen enough or too much and then applying the emulsion sheet, which was another whole trouble for me. I seemed to have air bubbles everywhere, even after trying to squeegy it out and applying a moist towel to it. Luckily, I found this thread and I'm going to try it out on my next round. Wish me luck!

I've been keeping myself busy with planning my new business line and custom orders. The new line isn't even close to being ready yet, so...I'll tell you more about my custom orders. I am working on a few fabric storage baskets. A customer choose the Michael Miller Spring Geometric fabric by Sandi Henderson, and when it arrived in the mail, I just fell in love with it. I love the color combination of the lime green and the bright aqua colors. Now off to work on the baskets.

Just learned I've been accepted into this year's Plush You show! Very exciting. I will be showing at Nancy. There is also 2 other Plush You show going on at Fancy and Schmancy as well. Opening day is Friday, October 9. Will have to start making plans for the plush :o)

Baby shower gifts

My sister is having a baby, baby #2, and this one is a boy. The first one, they wanted it to be a surprise, which turned out to be an adorable baby girl. So this weekend is her baby shower.

Here's what I made for the new baby: a crib bedding set which includes bumpers, fitted sheets, a soft pillow, and two pillow cases.

I hope she likes them :o)

My Vacay

Yes, Hawaii is beautiful. I went to the Big Island and we stayed in three cities: Kailua Kona, Hilo, and Wailokoa Village, so we basically went around the whole island.

A few surprises between there and here on the mainland:
- instead of squirrels, they have ferrets
- lots of wild cats and wild chickens
- wild vegetation (bamboos, mango trees, banana trees, aloe vera...)
- the sun and rain (off and on and on and off...)

We went to several beaches and my favorite was snorkeling at Kahulaa Beach in Kona. It was a great first time experience. I saw all kinds of fishes. One of my top goal was to see a sea turtle, which I did as two were on shore. Then while we were swimming, there swam two more. I wasn't too happy about not being able to see the volcanoe and lava though, although I understood that the weather played a big role and the steam was just making it too hard to see.

The Hilo Farmer's market was great, met some very nice and awesome people - a lady from Hong Kong that painted beautiful pictures and made beautiful jade jewelry from her uncle's factory that he carved; a man that made bamboo flutes and played it beautifully (which was a lot harder than I thought, I couldn't even get a note out).

Of course, I had to stop and get some fabrics.

I wouldn't mind going back to Hawaii, probably a different island, but the flight, I'm not a big fan of, as well as getting use to the time difference (5 hours behind central time). I love Hawaii!!!

Super busy

I've been busy, not with sewing, but with everything else in between.

We went to see Up last weekend after my sister's wedding, great movie. I love the 3-D, it amazes me the technology people can come up with, although, I do miss those 2-D animation sometimes.

Also, I've been busy planning and last minute planning our vacation trip to Hawaii this weekend. I am super excited, not so much for the long plane ride though. If only I could snap my fingers and be there...

I also bought a new car last night. I'm pretty happy with it. It's got a lot more power than my old car, and I like the Black Forest color of it.

Now, onto other personal matters...

Uggh...the pain and...Oh My! Bears

Had my wisdom tooth taken out yesterday afternoon. I was so nervous, more about the injection of the novacaine than the procedure itself, I think. The novacaine burned as it made it's way to numbing my gum, cheek, and senses. Even after the novacaine, I still felt the pain as the doctor drilled my tooth, so more novacaine injection. Then the doctor sewed everything up, I'm just glad it's over with. This morning, no more numbness, so that's a relief as that was a huge bothersome for me. The pain isn't too bad, just when I try to open my mouth to eat anything. Then the ibuprofen gets to work.

Also, I finally got my camera working again and had a chance to post these up in the shop.
